WOW!!! Dame Lapin of Tanlgewood!

Caledon really outdid herself last night when I became the third person in our fair land to be knighted. It was an honour beyond measure.
About 4:00pm I started to get nervous, running around Vic City like a turkey with it's giant weird eyed head cut off (Now that would be a relief!) looking for a new gown. A very typical maneuver as tend to get busy with pojects, this time helping Miss Schnabel create a home for herself in Regency, so I was thnking about wallpaper samples and draperies, not what to wear, until the last minute.
Just could not find what I had in mind- so settled on a lovely dress in my inventory and began receiving well wishes from many friends in IM.
As I changed in Miss Schnabel's sky box, shouting to her , "Does this hair look ok?? Should I wear a tiara- or is that overkill??" I began to notice...green dots approaching on my mini-map. It was very exciting..masses of green dots...gathering just below...oooo...I started to get really nervous.
Miss Schnabel took her tp down, but I thought it more appropriate to fall down- like an awkward Mary Poppins.
When I reached the front of my house, I was just overwhelmed with emotion when I saw the Dragoons there- on horseback in full dress uniform, Colonel Scaggs in the lead and Captain Viderian Vollmar holding the flag of the Dragoons.

I followed them to the meadow near my house- where I found many many dear friends, too numerous to name them all I'm afraid. I dare not miss someone. I love you all and thank you all for being there. It just meant the world to me to see them all there- all the people who have told me how Cancer has touched their lives, who have confided and shared secrets with me, who have maybe shed a tear, or gotten mad, my friends. I was particularly pleased to see so many of my friends from the UK- who got up early just to watch my knighting. There were many real life tears shed last night.

The Vicereign, Kamilah Hauptman, used a wrench in the knighting rather than a sword, explaining that a sword is a symbol of death and the wrench was to signify building community. The pose she created was so elegant.
There was a somber tone, but it was very gracious at the same time.
1Wuz Grey presented me with a most beautiful poem, writ by paw on parchment. Yesterday I was just delighted to recieve a fantastic rapier in blue velvet lined mahogany box and roses from Miss Beaumont, Miss Tombola sent me a lovley new horse, Sir Zen slipped me a poem after the ceremony and I was astonished to recieve an award from Coyoteangel Dimsum- currently on display on my plot in Tanglewood.

The Duchess Gabrielle Riel played some fantastic music during the ceremony, and then Kamilah's choice, "Both SIdes Now" by Carol King- this made me cry! It was such a loving tribute and then Gabi played a little something for me from the Foo Fighters (ooo -they'd be my court musicians!), ending the evening with our Lady Bette singing "Wind Beneath my Wings".
I vowed that I woud hug every person at the ceremony and began with the Widow Insoo, my oldest and dearest friend. We have IM'd each other every day for over 6 months! That really is amazing.
yes- there was dancing
yes- there was the calling out of "Hoo!"
and yes, when the ceremony, and the dancing was over...things got very very....silly. Cant' really speak of that here- but I pray that you will not be too shocked when you pick up the morning paper and see the headline: "Newly Knighted Dame Lapin Paris makes her first decree: That the official greeting of Caledon shall be a vigorous humping gesture- as seen HERE!"
Ahem...

Dear Dame Lapin,

I heartily regret that I've been unable to convey my thanks and congratulations in-world. (My typist has been enjoying the company of SL friends making a RL visit, and also accepted a house-sitting gig that has turned out to have *no internet*. Quelle horreur!)

Thank you for posting photos of the knighting ceremony. I was so sad to miss it. You deserve every accolade for your accomplishment with SLRFL!

When you are ready to reflect on the experience and organize your wisdom for future coordinators, please remember my offer to help you in that task.

With warm affection and admiration, I am,

yours, sincerely,

Hermione Fussbudget

Re: From Lady Whoop-Ass

*cries*

I missed it...

*sigh*

But Kami was right, it couldn't be delayed any longer.

I've been stuck offworld - a distant wedding, a dead vehicle, a new vehicle purchased, an unexpected houseguest for a week, a lot of RL business. The only thing I'd known about was the wedding. I should be back on with regularity Saturday eve... I think. Sunday tops.

Nonetheless, I have something for you - a Knight's Seal, one of a kind, made long before this. It is the third in existence - Ordinal and Leosanni have the other two. You'll find the note in the Rose Garden at the Guvnah's Mansion has already been updated - I'd done it just after RFL - please read it. :)
